Welcome
We would like to take this opportunity to welcome all of you to your child’s Kindergarten classroom and to Mt. Clemens Montessori Academy.
An exciting year is planned ahead with many special and engaging activities for all of us to be involved in. We would like to share with you our classroom routines and procedures, daily schedule, ground rules, and some of the special activities that we have planned for this school year. Furthermore we would like to request your assistance to ensure everything goes as smoothly as possible for your child.
Let us begin with our classroom morning routine. Please allow your child to walk into the classroom by themselves; this helps to develop independence and trust in their environment. If your child is crying, let us take your child into the classroom. This establishes self-reliance and trust with their teachers.
Our morning starts promptly at 8:00 am with “Circle Time”. This time is the most important time of your child’s day. Circle Time is when we will present all new lessons. If the classroom door is closed, we have already begun instruction so please take your child to the Office and wait with them. Your child will be picked up by our Teacher Assistant after the presentations are complete. Following this procedure eliminates interruptions and helps the concentration of the other children.
After Circle Time, the children are dismissed to find various works/activities in areas such as: Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Math, Science and Geography. In addition to the academic areas, we also have a listening center, a book corner and, of course, the ever popular snack area!
Every month we will have “Show-n-Tell” and it will have assigned themes. The first “Show-n-Tell” will take place Friday, September 27th. The theme is “Something That Tells Us About You”.
We will be having Fall and Holiday class parties. All class parties will be announced beforehand and a sign-up sheet will be located in the class binder outside the Office. Parent volunteers are always welcome!
We also would like to encourage parents to participate in our parent reading program held every Friday promptly at 2:45pm. This will begin Friday, October 4th. Please come to read your child’s favorite book with all their friends in the classroom.
We would like to invite parents to come to our classroom and help us with art projects. If you have some time to spare, please come and join us on Monday at 9:15am – 11:00am. A sign-up sheet is posted outside the Office. We will make sure you have a good time!
We have many fun-filled and challenging activities planned for this school year. We believe that what happens in this classroom will affect your child’s future. Your child’s time here will be well spent. He or she may even come home exhausted from all the work done during the day. We will make every minute count. We are looking forward to a terrific year and by working together we can make that happen!
Sincerely,
Ms. Aga, Ms. Asifa & Ms. Allie
