We are excited to announce that soon we will be starting Project 64 in our classroom! Project 64 is a program created by children’s book illustrator Wendy Anderson Halperin who lives in South Haven, Michigan.
The primary goal of Project 64 is teaching fine motor skills to young students. The name was created because over the course of the school year, children will be given new crayons each lesson until they have a complete box of 64. The project has many benefits such as:
While this program is centered on drawing, it is not considered an art program. The primary purpose is to develop fine motor skills. We will encourage children to do their best work and not to compare themselves to others. During each lesson, we will generally learn how to draw several different objects. We have used this program for few years now and we have been truly amazed. We hope that seeing your child’s work and progression over the year will have the same impact on you. If you have any questions at this point or as the program continues, please let us know. Thank you for your support! |
