Ways to Practice Alphabet Recognition
- Explore alphabet by using magnetic letters, puzzles, games, stencils, stamps, picture cards, and flash cards.
- Watch Leapfrog ‘Letter Factory’ dvd.
- Alphabet matching – make a set of letter cards with the lower and upper case. Play game by trying to match the letters together.
- Gooey alphabet bags – fill a plastic bag with hair gel, shaving cream, glue. Let the child use their fingers to make letters on the outside of the bag.
- Making letters – use play dough, shaving cream, pudding, pretzels to make letters. Bake alphabet cookies.
- Alphabet hide and seek – hide cards with letters on them around the kitchen/living room. Have the child try to find as many letters cards as they can.
- Alphabet book – make an A to Z book with drawings or cut out pictures from magazines and coloring books.
- Play alphabet bingo – make bingo cards like tic-tac-toe game. Call out letters and have your child mark them with bingo doter.
